Selamat Hari Raya 2011 Part 1

So Ramadhan's gone. And so has 1st Syawal. I suppose if we stick strictly to tradition, then raya has officially passed us by too.

The days building up to Syawal was as hectic as any past raya. We celebrated raya in CJ again this year. For a while we thought raya will be in KL this time around but my mom had said mak nak raya di rumah mak. And we did.

As I had missed wishing everyone selamat hari raya prior to terlihat nya anak bulan, I'll do it here with this sweet pantun (I literally mean manisnya pantun) I received from a friend (of course I had to edit the pantun sikit jugak lah kan..) ~

Walau langkah tidak bertemu
Walau tangan tidak berjabat
Walau ucap tidak terdengar
Dan mata pula tidak bertentang

Maaf jua dipinta di atas segala kekhilafan
Kerana ada tikanya mata tersilap memandang
Telinga pula tersalah mendengar
Lidah terlanjur berkata
dan hati kalanya silap menduga

To everyone who has sent raya wishes, terima kasih banyak2. Maaf juga dipinta, because there wasnt any reply from me - communication is not and has never been my strongest skill (only when I am in a twilight zone or something). You are all the kindest, sweetest.

I will upload raya photos soon. For now I'll just point you to some gambar raya from last year yang dah basi!

Gambar Secantik Bahasa

I hadnt had a minute to myself lately and that is no exaggeration. So I am just putting some awesome photos hoping it will create some awesome-ness di hati yang sentiasa lalai.

A 1-inch printed al-Quran at a library in Ahmedabad which also houses over 2000 original manuscripts in Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Sindhi and Turkish, some of which are 700 to 800 years old. Dont you just want to go there and see all of them?

And how awesome is this?

And this? (pix from http: //hifzdiary.blogspot.com/2010/12/read-quran -wherever-you-are.html)

In sickness and in health..

And how's your Ramadhan? Me, I am still racing to finish the Quran.

More photos here.

The Little Beasts That Prowl Our Home

This is Sushi.

And this is Fishy.

They were but tiny little kittens when they first came to our home. But not so much anymore. We are still pet-sitting these two.

They roam where they will in our home, although at first they were afraid to even leave the room where their cage sits. Jenguk kepala je keluar kat pintu. And then will dash madly back to the cage should anything scare them (the children made sure many did and then laughed at the kittens' antics).

They create havoc wherever they play.

And at the same time rule our home.

The thing they do best is to roll.

And being lazy.

And sleep.

And sleep some more (lebih dari orang yang berpuasa).

So that is my story this Ramadhan.
