TGIF

I speak only cloud these days. Eat, drink and sleep clouds too. And they arent those puffy-oh-how-pretty types of clouds. Let me leave you with the for dummies explanation (do not be insulted, I read from here too).

Have a great weekend ahead. What are your plans? I am starting class. I'll tell you about it (if there is anything to tell). We are attending an aqiqah to a boy whose name is Unif Aris Mikael (do you like long names?) I'd rather have short names like Adam and Aaron (Irti's boys). We might catch MIB too this weekend. And what are your plans this school hols? We are staying home (as a catch up time for Eirfan. He wasnt given a choice). Have fun whatever you'll be doing.

Books, Books And More Books Part 41 - Syamail Muhammadiyah

And I have finished this sometime back. Buku tentang keperibadian Rasulullah saw.

Al-Bara' bin 'Azib berkata :

I think this is one of the books I will keep on the night stand. To be lingered over slowly, over and over so as to memorize the stories of Rasulullah.

Surah Ali Imran, ayat 31

(saya terbaca tulisan rakan dan hati terdetik, I could never write as good as that.

Venting My Frustrations

I left my camera at home (or so I thought). That was why I couldnt upload my photos earlier. So I packed my cable home. I got home and then found out the camera was in my bag all along. Oh well. Later I took the camera and searched for the cable. Which is then nowhere to be found - not in the bag, not on the desk nor on the kitchen counter or the sofa downstairs where I thought it had fallen off. I searched for the second time. And a third.

Frustrated, I sat down to write. Then found out that now I had misplaced my reading glasses somewhere. So I went about searching for them.

Do things like these happen to you too? (please say yes)

His Dinners Part 2 - Grilled Salmon Steak

I decided to have posts titled 'his dinners' to salute my hubby who occasionally would roll up his sleeves and make us scrumptious meals. This is a sequel to a previous post I had put up about his cooking, more or less.

His latest wow-meal is grilled salmon steaks. It is called a wow-meal because (a) everybody would go whoa! when they see/smell the food and then ask, is dinner ready? (b) no one else at home knows how to make it and (c) the boys particularly, would make a point to be home for the meal if they knew about it.

The salmon was served with lemon and steamed broccoli and baby carrots with cherry tomatoes. And some boiled baby potatoes on the side. I have the how-to here. Bon Appétit!

Umat Yang Bersyukur

Maka bersyukurlah menjadi umat Islam.

Bersyukurlah kepada Allah kerana bukan saja kita menjadi umat Islam, tetapi kita diberikan pula rezeki yang cukup. Rezeki makan, minum, pakaian, kesihatan, tempat tinggal, pelajaran dsbnya.

BB&MB Part 40 - Start Something That Matters

It was the title of this book that caught my eyes (I always have a penchant for self improvement tips). It is Ilyas'. Occasionally he'd read my books and I'd pick up one or two of his to finish.

This is a hit for me and is one of the must read books on my list. It is about the writer, Blake Mycoskie who went to Argentina and discovered two things, amongst others. First, the Argentines have very comfortable traditional shoes and second, because of poverty many children in Argentina are without shoes. He then went home to the States with some Argentine shoes for sale and later on came up with the concept of "if you buy one pair of shoes, a second pair will be donated to the needy".

That is the beginning of Toms - Tomorrow's Shoes. The book is not really about how to make money, but rather how to start something that will matter to you more than money ever could (I like it when he asked, how much is enough?) It is about making a difference to the world, if you like. And especially to your own self.

Read it if you are looking for some inspiration in life (both the No Regrets post and the Success paragraph from Labor Day are inspired from this book). Happy reading.

ps - I am thinking I might read the book again.

No Regrets

I have lots of ideas about what to write, but I cant seem to write any word. How peculiar is that. And I am still regretting the fact that I did not have a notepad (no, I dont mean a notebook nor an iPad) when I needed one today while waiting in the doctor's lounge (I had bundles of ideas then). I never care to type ala 'hen-peck' on the iPhone (I have this thing about writing on a piece of paper with a pen anyway).

For now I'll just leave you with this, a string of my favorite words - trade winds. Sail. Dream. Got them from the book I am currently reading.

I am keeping my fingers crossed. Twenty years on, I will have no regrets InsyaAllah.

A Family Wedding - Suffian & Intan

We were in Taiping for my nephew's wedding.

Farhan and Jijie, adik pengantin.

Ayah Cu & Mak Su. Ayah Cu kata kenapa camera senget. Hmm. Good observation (I like the pictures having different angles, actually).

I love the prettily packaged buah tangan. I love the simple bilik pengantin. The white theme. The chandeliers. It was a pretty wedding indeed.

Sayang. Dan Tangis

(Muqaddimah -

My sister gave me a watch when I first left home for college. I lost it in my second semester, I think,  when I left it in the ladies' after wudhu'. Sayangnya saya jam tu, recently I bought another watch of  the same make (after all these years).

And my mum gave me a pretty blue blouse when she came back from a summer holiday in the UK tetapi sayang, a few years later baju tu kemudiannya hilang bersama luggage.

Itu baru antara material yang kita sayang. Belum lagi keluarga kita. Kawan2 kita.)

Nabi membaca doa Nabi Isa as, dari Ayat 118 surah Al-Maaidah.

Kemudian Nabi mengangkat tangan meminta doa - Allah, umat aku, tolonglah mereka. Tolonglah mereka.

Kerasnya hati sebahagian kita.. (saya bertanya diri sendiri - have I cried any, lately? I wonder, sebab duniakah atau akhirat?)

Lalu turunlah Jibrail bertemu Nabi memberitahu Allah bertanya mengapa Nabi berdoa sampai menangis bersungguh2. Maka jawab Nabi, aku bimbangkan umatku.

Happy Labor Day

Hello darlings. Happy labor day to you. What are your plans today?

I am visiting someone at Gleneagles who had an operation after involving in an accident. He was on his motorbike heading home when a lorry hit him. So you bikers out there be extra, extra cautious - the other guy might not be as careful as you are.

We are having lunch at Seri Melaka. I am keeping my fingers crossed because the last time we were there it was closed.

I wonder if we have time to get someone a belated birthday present. And to visit Aton who was admitted at SJMC Sunway Medical Center yesterday for her back pain. Semoga Allah memberi kemudahan untuk cepat sembuh, InsyaAllah.

I do try to keep the blog updated regularly, but that rather depends on my mood. And let me admit that I have a tendency to let anything at all affect my already-less-than-sunshine personality (walaupun kata ustaz Islam menganjurkan kita menunjukkan muka yang manis walau apa jua pun keadaan. I do admire blogs that are frequently updated - there is always something new to read everytime you visit. Seronok membaca. And a let down, a disappointment actually when you click and the same old post from weeks ago is still commanding the top. Tapi memang saya faham sangat kenapa blog tak ter-update.

I picked up a book Ilyas had read. It is quite engrossing, titled "Start Something That Matters" (I am thinking that this blog matters. I must make it matter even more, then). Anyway, I got this from the book.

I'll post comments when I am done (btw, maybe I should come up with my own definition of success). Have a relaxing labor day whatever you'll be doing.
